How they compare

Kuwait currently reports 11.14 Mt CO2e against 10.15 Mt CO2e in Ukraine, a difference of 0.99 Mt CO2e.

That makes Kuwait's figure about 1.1 times Ukraine's.

The two have swapped places 1 time across 55 shared years of data; in 1970 it was Ukraine ahead.

Kuwait ranks 34th and Ukraine ranks 35th of 203 countries.

Ukraine has averaged higher in every one of the 6 decades both report.

Head to head by decade

Decade Kuwait Ukraine Difference Ahead
1970s 1.42 Mt CO2e 11.21 Mt CO2e 9.78 Mt CO2e Ukraine
1980s 2.7 Mt CO2e 12.38 Mt CO2e 9.68 Mt CO2e Ukraine
1990s 3.7 Mt CO2e 12.04 Mt CO2e 8.34 Mt CO2e Ukraine
2000s 5.19 Mt CO2e 11.36 Mt CO2e 6.17 Mt CO2e Ukraine
2010s 8.2 Mt CO2e 11.42 Mt CO2e 3.22 Mt CO2e Ukraine
2020s 10.55 Mt CO2e 10.63 Mt CO2e 0.0868 Mt CO2e Ukraine

Averages of every year both report within each decade.

A measure of annual emissions of methane (CH4), one of the six Kyoto greenhouse gases (GHG), from the waste sector. This includes emissions from solid waste (IPCC 2006 codes 4.A Solid Waste Disposal, 4.B Biological Treatment of Solid Waste, 4.C Incineration and Open Burning of Waste) and wastewater treatment (IPCC 2006 code 4.D Wastewater Treatment and Discharge). The measure is standardized to carbon dioxide equivalent values using the Global Warming Potential (GWP) factors of IPCC's 5th Assessment Report (AR5).
