Lithuania vs Sierra Leone: Methane (CH4) emissions from Waste
Methane (CH4) emissions from Waste over time
- Lithuania
- Sierra Leone
How they compare
Sierra Leone currently reports 0.7846 Mt CO2e against 0.7304 Mt CO2e in Lithuania, a difference of 0.0542 Mt CO2e.
That makes Sierra Leone's figure about 1.1 times Lithuania's.
The two have swapped places 1 time across 55 shared years of data; in 1970 it was Lithuania ahead.
Lithuania ranks 130th and Sierra Leone ranks 128th of 203 countries.
Lithuania has averaged higher in every one of the 6 decades both report.
Head to head by decade
| Decade | Lithuania | Sierra Leone | Difference | Ahead |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1970s | 1.36 Mt CO2e | 0.189 Mt CO2e | 1.17 Mt CO2e | Lithuania |
| 1980s | 1.55 Mt CO2e | 0.2846 Mt CO2e | 1.26 Mt CO2e | Lithuania |
| 1990s | 1.57 Mt CO2e | 0.3419 Mt CO2e | 1.23 Mt CO2e | Lithuania |
| 2000s | 1.72 Mt CO2e | 0.4367 Mt CO2e | 1.28 Mt CO2e | Lithuania |
| 2010s | 1.43 Mt CO2e | 0.6008 Mt CO2e | 0.8255 Mt CO2e | Lithuania |
| 2020s | 0.9498 Mt CO2e | 0.7475 Mt CO2e | 0.2023 Mt CO2e | Lithuania |
Averages of every year both report within each decade.

About this data
A measure of annual emissions of methane (CH4), one of the six Kyoto greenhouse gases (GHG), from the waste sector. This includes emissions from solid waste (IPCC 2006 codes 4.A Solid Waste Disposal, 4.B Biological Treatment of Solid Waste, 4.C Incineration and Open Burning of Waste) and wastewater treatment (IPCC 2006 code 4.D Wastewater Treatment and Discharge). The measure is standardized to carbon dioxide equivalent values using the Global Warming Potential (GWP) factors of IPCC's 5th Assessment Report (AR5).
