New Zealand vs Uganda: Methane (CH4) emissions from Waste
Methane (CH4) emissions from Waste over time
- New Zealand
- Uganda
How they compare
Uganda currently reports 4.15 Mt CO2e against 3.78 Mt CO2e in New Zealand, a difference of 0.37 Mt CO2e.
That makes Uganda's figure about 1.1 times New Zealand's.
The two have swapped places 1 time across 55 shared years of data; in 1970 it was New Zealand ahead.
New Zealand ranks 68th and Uganda ranks 65th of 203 countries.
Across the 6 decades both report, New Zealand averaged higher in 5 and Uganda in 1.
Head to head by decade
| Decade | New Zealand | Uganda | Difference | Ahead |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1970s | 3.84 Mt CO2e | 0.4372 Mt CO2e | 3.41 Mt CO2e | New Zealand |
| 1980s | 4.11 Mt CO2e | 0.853 Mt CO2e | 3.26 Mt CO2e | New Zealand |

About this data
A measure of annual emissions of methane (CH4), one of the six Kyoto greenhouse gases (GHG), from the waste sector. This includes emissions from solid waste (IPCC 2006 codes 4.A Solid Waste Disposal, 4.B Biological Treatment of Solid Waste, 4.C Incineration and Open Burning of Waste) and wastewater treatment (IPCC 2006 code 4.D Wastewater Treatment and Discharge). The measure is standardized to carbon dioxide equivalent values using the Global Warming Potential (GWP) factors of IPCC's 5th Assessment Report (AR5).
