How they compare

Pakistan currently reports 24.59 Mt CO2e against 22.62 Mt CO2e in United Kingdom, a difference of 1.97 Mt CO2e.

That makes Pakistan's figure about 1.1 times United Kingdom's.

The two have swapped places 1 time across 55 shared years of data; in 1970 it was United Kingdom ahead.

Pakistan ranks 13th and United Kingdom ranks 14th of 203 countries.

United Kingdom has averaged higher in every one of the 6 decades both report.

Head to head by decade

Decade Pakistan United Kingdom Difference Ahead
1970s 5.82 Mt CO2e 62.49 Mt CO2e 56.67 Mt CO2e United Kingdom
1980s 7.36 Mt CO2e 62.51 Mt CO2e 55.15 Mt CO2e United Kingdom

A measure of annual emissions of methane (CH4), one of the six Kyoto greenhouse gases (GHG), from the waste sector. This includes emissions from solid waste (IPCC 2006 codes 4.A Solid Waste Disposal, 4.B Biological Treatment of Solid Waste, 4.C Incineration and Open Burning of Waste) and wastewater treatment (IPCC 2006 code 4.D Wastewater Treatment and Discharge). The measure is standardized to carbon dioxide equivalent values using the Global Warming Potential (GWP) factors of IPCC's 5th Assessment Report (AR5).
