Philippines vs Ukraine: Methane (CH4) emissions from Waste
Methane (CH4) emissions from Waste over time
- Philippines
- Ukraine
How they compare
Philippines currently reports 11.21 Mt CO2e against 10.15 Mt CO2e in Ukraine, a difference of 1.06 Mt CO2e.
That makes Philippines's figure about 1.1 times Ukraine's.
The two have swapped places 1 time across 55 shared years of data; in 1970 it was Ukraine ahead.
Philippines ranks 33rd and Ukraine ranks 35th of 203 countries.
Across the 6 decades both report, Philippines averaged higher in 1 and Ukraine in 5.
Head to head by decade
| Decade | Philippines | Ukraine | Difference | Ahead |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1970s | 3.45 Mt CO2e | 11.21 Mt CO2e | 7.75 Mt CO2e | Ukraine |
| 1980s | 4.67 Mt CO2e | 12.38 Mt CO2e | 7.71 Mt CO2e | Ukraine |

About this data
A measure of annual emissions of methane (CH4), one of the six Kyoto greenhouse gases (GHG), from the waste sector. This includes emissions from solid waste (IPCC 2006 codes 4.A Solid Waste Disposal, 4.B Biological Treatment of Solid Waste, 4.C Incineration and Open Burning of Waste) and wastewater treatment (IPCC 2006 code 4.D Wastewater Treatment and Discharge). The measure is standardized to carbon dioxide equivalent values using the Global Warming Potential (GWP) factors of IPCC's 5th Assessment Report (AR5).
