Thailand vs United Kingdom: Methane (CH4) emissions from Waste
Methane (CH4) emissions from Waste over time
- Thailand
- United Kingdom
How they compare
Thailand currently reports 26.65 Mt CO2e against 22.62 Mt CO2e in United Kingdom, a difference of 4.03 Mt CO2e.
That makes Thailand's figure about 1.2 times United Kingdom's.
The two have swapped places 1 time across 55 shared years of data; in 1970 it was United Kingdom ahead.
Thailand ranks 11th and United Kingdom ranks 14th of 203 countries.
Across the 6 decades both report, Thailand averaged higher in 1 and United Kingdom in 5.
Head to head by decade
| Decade | Thailand | United Kingdom | Difference | Ahead |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1970s | 6.11 Mt CO2e | 62.49 Mt CO2e | 56.38 Mt CO2e | United Kingdom |
| 1980s | 8.24 Mt CO2e | 62.51 Mt CO2e | 54.27 Mt CO2e | United Kingdom |

About this data
A measure of annual emissions of methane (CH4), one of the six Kyoto greenhouse gases (GHG), from the waste sector. This includes emissions from solid waste (IPCC 2006 codes 4.A Solid Waste Disposal, 4.B Biological Treatment of Solid Waste, 4.C Incineration and Open Burning of Waste) and wastewater treatment (IPCC 2006 code 4.D Wastewater Treatment and Discharge). The measure is standardized to carbon dioxide equivalent values using the Global Warming Potential (GWP) factors of IPCC's 5th Assessment Report (AR5).
