How they compare

Oman currently reports 31.15 Mt CO2e against 29.38 Mt CO2e in Mali, a difference of 1.77 Mt CO2e.

That makes Oman's figure about 1.1 times Mali's.

The two have swapped places 3 times across 55 shared years of data; in 1970 it was Mali ahead.

Mali ranks 52nd and Oman ranks 50th of 203 countries.

Oman has averaged higher in every one of the 6 decades both report.

Head to head by decade

Decade Mali Oman Difference Ahead
1970s 7.18 Mt CO2e 8 Mt CO2e 0.8174 Mt CO2e Oman
1980s 8.16 Mt CO2e 12.28 Mt CO2e 4.12 Mt CO2e Oman
1990s 9.24 Mt CO2e 21.4 Mt CO2e 12.16 Mt CO2e Oman

A measure of annual emissions of methane (CH4), one of the six Kyoto greenhouse gases (GHG), from the agriculture, energy, waste, and industrial sectors, excluding LULUCF. The measure is standardized to carbon dioxide equivalent values using the Global Warming Potential (GWP) factors of IPCC's 5th Assessment Report (AR5).
