Southern Europe vs USSR: Mineral fertilizers — Cropland phosphorus per unit area
Mineral fertilizers — Cropland phosphorus per unit area over time
- Southern Europe
- USSR
How they compare
USSR currently reports 28.81 kg/ha against 7.95 kg/ha in Southern Europe, a difference of 20.86 kg/ha.
That makes USSR's figure about 3.6 times Southern Europe's.
The two have swapped places 1 time across 31 shared years of data; in 1961 it was Southern Europe ahead.
Southern Europe ranks 11th and USSR ranks 11th of 29 groups.
Across the 4 decades both report, Southern Europe averaged higher in 1 and USSR in 3.
Head to head by decade
| Decade | Southern Europe | USSR | Difference | Ahead |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1960s | 8.53 kg/ha | 8.47 kg/ha | 0.0588 kg/ha | Southern Europe |
| 1970s | 12.46 kg/ha | 18.67 kg/ha | 6.21 kg/ha | USSR |

About this data
The Cropland Nutrient balance domain contains information on the flows of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium from mineral fertilizer, manure applied, atmospheric deposition, crop removal, and biological fixation over cropland and per unit area of cropland. The flows are aggregated to total inputs and total outputs, from which the overall nutrient balance and nutrient use efficiency on cropland are calculated. Statistics are disseminated in units of tonnes and in kg/ha, as appropriate. Nutrient use efficiency is expressed as a fraction (%).
