Americas vs USSR: Mineral fertilizers — Cropland phosphorus
Mineral fertilizers — Cropland phosphorus over time
- Americas
- USSR
How they compare
USSR currently reports 6.59 million t against 5.29 million t in Americas, a difference of 1.31 million t.
That makes USSR's figure about 1.2 times Americas's.
The two have swapped places 1 time across 31 shared years of data; in 1961 it was Americas ahead.
Americas ranks 2nd and USSR ranks 1st of 10 groups.
USSR has averaged higher in every one of the 4 decades both report.
Head to head by decade
| Decade | Americas | USSR | Difference | Ahead |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1960s | 1.86 million t | 1.99 million t | 138,476 t | USSR |
| 1970s | 2.94 million t | 4.34 million t | 1.40 million t | USSR |

About this data
The Cropland Nutrient balance domain contains information on the flows of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium from mineral fertilizer, manure applied, atmospheric deposition, crop removal, and biological fixation over cropland and per unit area of cropland. The flows are aggregated to total inputs and total outputs, from which the overall nutrient balance and nutrient use efficiency on cropland are calculated. Statistics are disseminated in units of tonnes and in kg/ha, as appropriate. Nutrient use efficiency is expressed as a fraction (%).
