Argentina vs Indonesia: Nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions from Agriculture
Nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions from Agriculture over time
- Argentina
- Indonesia
How they compare
Indonesia currently reports 49.56 Mt CO2e against 33.39 Mt CO2e in Argentina, a difference of 16.17 Mt CO2e.
That makes Indonesia's figure about 1.5 times Argentina's.
The two have swapped places 1 time across 55 shared years of data; in 1970 it was Argentina ahead.
Argentina ranks 10th and Indonesia ranks 7th of 201 countries.
Across the 6 decades both report, Argentina averaged higher in 1 and Indonesia in 5.
Head to head by decade
| Decade | Argentina | Indonesia | Difference | Ahead |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1970s | 24.2 Mt CO2e | 17.35 Mt CO2e | 6.85 Mt CO2e | Argentina |
| 1980s | 23.92 Mt CO2e | 24.79 Mt CO2e | 0.8707 Mt CO2e | Indonesia |
| 1990s | 24.64 Mt CO2e | 30.82 Mt CO2e | 6.19 Mt CO2e | Indonesia |
| 2000s | 28.54 Mt CO2e | 35.51 Mt CO2e | 6.97 Mt CO2e | Indonesia |
| 2010s | 30.21 Mt CO2e | 45.77 Mt CO2e | 15.55 Mt CO2e | Indonesia |
| 2020s | 33.9 Mt CO2e | 49.45 Mt CO2e | 15.56 Mt CO2e | Indonesia |
Averages of every year both report within each decade.

About this data
A measure of annual emissions of nitrous oxide (N2O), one of the six Kyoto greenhouse gases (GHG), from the agricultural sector. This includes emissions from livestock (IPCC 2006 codes 3.A.1 (enteric fermentation, 3.a.2 (manure management) and crops (IPCC 2006 codes 3.C.1 Emissions from biomass burning, 3.C.2 Liming, 3.C.3 Urea application, 3.C.4 Direct N2O Emissions from managed soils, 3.C.5 Indirect N2O Emissions from managed soils, 3.C.6 Indirect N2O Emissions from manure management, 3.C.7 Rice cultivations). The measure is standardized to carbon dioxide equivalent values using the Global Warming Potential (GWP) factors of IPCC's 5th Assessment Report (AR5).
