Austria vs Latvia: Nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions from Agriculture
Nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions from Agriculture over time
- Austria
- Latvia
How they compare
Latvia currently reports 2.1 Mt CO2e against 1.96 Mt CO2e in Austria, a difference of 0.14 Mt CO2e.
That makes Latvia's figure about 1.1 times Austria's.
The two have swapped places 1 time across 55 shared years of data; in 1970 it was Austria ahead.
Austria ranks 97th and Latvia ranks 95th of 201 countries.
Across the 6 decades both report, Austria averaged higher in 5 and Latvia in 1.
Head to head by decade
| Decade | Austria | Latvia | Difference | Ahead |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1970s | 2.45 Mt CO2e | 2.03 Mt CO2e | 0.4221 Mt CO2e | Austria |
| 1980s | 2.62 Mt CO2e | 2.19 Mt CO2e | 0.4358 Mt CO2e | Austria |
| 1990s | 2.37 Mt CO2e | 1.7 Mt CO2e | 0.675 Mt CO2e | Austria |
| 2000s | 2.07 Mt CO2e | 1.54 Mt CO2e | 0.5217 Mt CO2e | Austria |
| 2010s | 2.07 Mt CO2e | 1.82 Mt CO2e | 0.2583 Mt CO2e | Austria |
| 2020s | 1.98 Mt CO2e | 2.07 Mt CO2e | 0.0956 Mt CO2e | Latvia |
Averages of every year both report within each decade.

About this data
A measure of annual emissions of nitrous oxide (N2O), one of the six Kyoto greenhouse gases (GHG), from the agricultural sector. This includes emissions from livestock (IPCC 2006 codes 3.A.1 (enteric fermentation, 3.a.2 (manure management) and crops (IPCC 2006 codes 3.C.1 Emissions from biomass burning, 3.C.2 Liming, 3.C.3 Urea application, 3.C.4 Direct N2O Emissions from managed soils, 3.C.5 Indirect N2O Emissions from managed soils, 3.C.6 Indirect N2O Emissions from manure management, 3.C.7 Rice cultivations). The measure is standardized to carbon dioxide equivalent values using the Global Warming Potential (GWP) factors of IPCC's 5th Assessment Report (AR5).
