Belarus vs Viet Nam: Nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions from Agriculture
Nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions from Agriculture over time
- Belarus
- Viet Nam
How they compare
Viet Nam currently reports 14.73 Mt CO2e against 13.32 Mt CO2e in Belarus, a difference of 1.41 Mt CO2e.
That makes Viet Nam's figure about 1.1 times Belarus's.
The two have swapped places 3 times across 55 shared years of data; in 1970 it was Belarus ahead.
Belarus ranks 28th and Viet Nam ranks 25th of 201 countries.
Across the 6 decades both report, Belarus averaged higher in 3 and Viet Nam in 3.
Head to head by decade
| Decade | Belarus | Viet Nam | Difference | Ahead |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1970s | 11.74 Mt CO2e | 3.86 Mt CO2e | 7.89 Mt CO2e | Belarus |
| 1980s | 12.26 Mt CO2e | 5.6 Mt CO2e | 6.66 Mt CO2e | Belarus |
| 1990s | 11.44 Mt CO2e | 9.78 Mt CO2e | 1.66 Mt CO2e | Belarus |
| 2000s | 11.21 Mt CO2e | 13.74 Mt CO2e | 2.53 Mt CO2e | Viet Nam |
| 2010s | 13.24 Mt CO2e | 15.73 Mt CO2e | 2.49 Mt CO2e | Viet Nam |
| 2020s | 13.11 Mt CO2e | 15.04 Mt CO2e | 1.93 Mt CO2e | Viet Nam |
Averages of every year both report within each decade.

About this data
A measure of annual emissions of nitrous oxide (N2O), one of the six Kyoto greenhouse gases (GHG), from the agricultural sector. This includes emissions from livestock (IPCC 2006 codes 3.A.1 (enteric fermentation, 3.a.2 (manure management) and crops (IPCC 2006 codes 3.C.1 Emissions from biomass burning, 3.C.2 Liming, 3.C.3 Urea application, 3.C.4 Direct N2O Emissions from managed soils, 3.C.5 Indirect N2O Emissions from managed soils, 3.C.6 Indirect N2O Emissions from manure management, 3.C.7 Rice cultivations). The measure is standardized to carbon dioxide equivalent values using the Global Warming Potential (GWP) factors of IPCC's 5th Assessment Report (AR5).
