Burkina Faso vs South Korea: Nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions from Agriculture
Nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions from Agriculture over time
- Burkina Faso
- South Korea
How they compare
Burkina Faso currently reports 5.27 Mt CO2e against 4.34 Mt CO2e in South Korea, a difference of 0.93 Mt CO2e.
That makes Burkina Faso's figure about 1.2 times South Korea's.
The two have swapped places 9 times across 55 shared years of data; in 1970 it was South Korea ahead.
Burkina Faso ranks 52nd and South Korea ranks 54th of 201 countries.
Across the 6 decades both report, Burkina Faso averaged higher in 2 and South Korea in 4.
Head to head by decade
| Decade | Burkina Faso | South Korea | Difference | Ahead |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1970s | 1.23 Mt CO2e | 3.24 Mt CO2e | 2.01 Mt CO2e | South Korea |
| 1980s | 1.77 Mt CO2e | 3.73 Mt CO2e | 1.96 Mt CO2e | South Korea |
| 1990s | 2.5 Mt CO2e | 4.7 Mt CO2e | 2.2 Mt CO2e | South Korea |
| 2000s | 3.87 Mt CO2e | 4.03 Mt CO2e | 0.166 Mt CO2e | South Korea |
| 2010s | 5.17 Mt CO2e | 4.96 Mt CO2e | 0.2144 Mt CO2e | Burkina Faso |
| 2020s | 5.34 Mt CO2e | 4.68 Mt CO2e | 0.656 Mt CO2e | Burkina Faso |
Averages of every year both report within each decade.

About this data
A measure of annual emissions of nitrous oxide (N2O), one of the six Kyoto greenhouse gases (GHG), from the agricultural sector. This includes emissions from livestock (IPCC 2006 codes 3.A.1 (enteric fermentation, 3.a.2 (manure management) and crops (IPCC 2006 codes 3.C.1 Emissions from biomass burning, 3.C.2 Liming, 3.C.3 Urea application, 3.C.4 Direct N2O Emissions from managed soils, 3.C.5 Indirect N2O Emissions from managed soils, 3.C.6 Indirect N2O Emissions from manure management, 3.C.7 Rice cultivations). The measure is standardized to carbon dioxide equivalent values using the Global Warming Potential (GWP) factors of IPCC's 5th Assessment Report (AR5).
