How they compare

Chad currently reports 21.8 Mt CO2e against 19.46 Mt CO2e in Germany, a difference of 2.34 Mt CO2e.

That makes Chad's figure about 1.1 times Germany's.

The two have swapped places 1 time across 55 shared years of data; in 1970 it was Germany ahead.

Chad ranks 16th and Germany ranks 17th of 201 countries.

Germany has averaged higher in every one of the 6 decades both report.

Head to head by decade

Decade Chad Germany Difference Ahead
1970s 1.82 Mt CO2e 29.36 Mt CO2e 27.54 Mt CO2e Germany
1980s 1.89 Mt CO2e 31.84 Mt CO2e 29.95 Mt CO2e Germany
1990s 4.31 Mt CO2e 26.7 Mt CO2e 22.38 Mt CO2e Germany
2000s 7.3 Mt CO2e 25.39 Mt CO2e 18.08 Mt CO2e Germany
2010s 12.92 Mt CO2e 24.64 Mt CO2e 11.72 Mt CO2e Germany
2020s 19.61 Mt CO2e 20.63 Mt CO2e 1.02 Mt CO2e Germany

Averages of every year both report within each decade.

A measure of annual emissions of nitrous oxide (N2O), one of the six Kyoto greenhouse gases (GHG), from the agricultural sector. This includes emissions from livestock (IPCC 2006 codes 3.A.1 (enteric fermentation, 3.a.2 (manure management) and crops (IPCC 2006 codes 3.C.1 Emissions from biomass burning, 3.C.2 Liming, 3.C.3 Urea application, 3.C.4 Direct N2O Emissions from managed soils, 3.C.5 Indirect N2O Emissions from managed soils, 3.C.6 Indirect N2O Emissions from manure management, 3.C.7 Rice cultivations). The measure is standardized to carbon dioxide equivalent values using the Global Warming Potential (GWP) factors of IPCC's 5th Assessment Report (AR5).
