Germany vs IDA total: Nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions from Agriculture
Nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions from Agriculture over time
- Germany
- IDA total
How they compare
IDA total currently reports 344.77 Mt CO2e against 19.46 Mt CO2e in Germany, a difference of 325.31 Mt CO2e.
That makes IDA total's figure about 17.7 times Germany's.
Across all 55 years both countries report, IDA total has been ahead every year.
Germany ranks 18th and IDA total ranks 16th of 202 countries.
IDA total has averaged higher in every one of the 6 decades both report.
Head to head by decade
| Decade | Germany | IDA total | Difference | Ahead |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1970s | 29.36 Mt CO2e | 113.99 Mt CO2e | 84.64 Mt CO2e | IDA total |
| 1980s | 31.84 Mt CO2e | 139.34 Mt CO2e | 107.5 Mt CO2e | IDA total |
| 1990s | 26.7 Mt CO2e | 166.62 Mt CO2e | 139.92 Mt CO2e | IDA total |
| 2000s | 25.39 Mt CO2e | 214.51 Mt CO2e | 189.12 Mt CO2e | IDA total |
| 2010s | 24.64 Mt CO2e | 284.08 Mt CO2e | 259.44 Mt CO2e | IDA total |
| 2020s | 20.63 Mt CO2e | 333.32 Mt CO2e | 312.69 Mt CO2e | IDA total |
Averages of every year both report within each decade.

About this data
A measure of annual emissions of nitrous oxide (N2O), one of the six Kyoto greenhouse gases (GHG), from the agricultural sector. This includes emissions from livestock (IPCC 2006 codes 3.A.1 (enteric fermentation, 3.a.2 (manure management) and crops (IPCC 2006 codes 3.C.1 Emissions from biomass burning, 3.C.2 Liming, 3.C.3 Urea application, 3.C.4 Direct N2O Emissions from managed soils, 3.C.5 Indirect N2O Emissions from managed soils, 3.C.6 Indirect N2O Emissions from manure management, 3.C.7 Rice cultivations). The measure is standardized to carbon dioxide equivalent values using the Global Warming Potential (GWP) factors of IPCC's 5th Assessment Report (AR5).
