How they compare

Zambia currently reports 4.28 Mt CO2e against 4.07 Mt CO2e in Malaysia, a difference of 0.21 Mt CO2e.

That makes Zambia's figure about 1.1 times Malaysia's.

The two have swapped places 1 time across 55 shared years of data; in 1970 it was Malaysia ahead.

Malaysia ranks 58th and Zambia ranks 55th of 201 countries.

Malaysia has averaged higher in every one of the 6 decades both report.

Head to head by decade

Decade Malaysia Zambia Difference Ahead
1970s 1.99 Mt CO2e 1.77 Mt CO2e 0.2236 Mt CO2e Malaysia
1980s 2.61 Mt CO2e 2.1 Mt CO2e 0.5129 Mt CO2e Malaysia
1990s 3.25 Mt CO2e 2.15 Mt CO2e 1.1 Mt CO2e Malaysia
2000s 4.47 Mt CO2e 2.15 Mt CO2e 2.33 Mt CO2e Malaysia
2010s 5.28 Mt CO2e 3.4 Mt CO2e 1.88 Mt CO2e Malaysia
2020s 4.47 Mt CO2e 4.06 Mt CO2e 0.4126 Mt CO2e Malaysia

Averages of every year both report within each decade.

A measure of annual emissions of nitrous oxide (N2O), one of the six Kyoto greenhouse gases (GHG), from the agricultural sector. This includes emissions from livestock (IPCC 2006 codes 3.A.1 (enteric fermentation, 3.a.2 (manure management) and crops (IPCC 2006 codes 3.C.1 Emissions from biomass burning, 3.C.2 Liming, 3.C.3 Urea application, 3.C.4 Direct N2O Emissions from managed soils, 3.C.5 Indirect N2O Emissions from managed soils, 3.C.6 Indirect N2O Emissions from manure management, 3.C.7 Rice cultivations). The measure is standardized to carbon dioxide equivalent values using the Global Warming Potential (GWP) factors of IPCC's 5th Assessment Report (AR5).
