Mauritania vs Namibia: Nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions from Agriculture
Nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions from Agriculture over time
- Mauritania
- Namibia
How they compare
Namibia currently reports 2.22 Mt CO2e against 2.11 Mt CO2e in Mauritania, a difference of 0.11 Mt CO2e.
That makes Namibia's figure about 1.1 times Mauritania's.
The two have swapped places 8 times across 55 shared years of data; in 1970 it was Namibia ahead.
Mauritania ranks 94th and Namibia ranks 91st of 201 countries.
Across the 6 decades both report, Mauritania averaged higher in 3 and Namibia in 3.
Head to head by decade
| Decade | Mauritania | Namibia | Difference | Ahead |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1970s | 0.9768 Mt CO2e | 1.47 Mt CO2e | 0.497 Mt CO2e | Namibia |
| 1980s | 1.02 Mt CO2e | 1.24 Mt CO2e | 0.2173 Mt CO2e | Namibia |
| 1990s | 1.24 Mt CO2e | 1.34 Mt CO2e | 0.099 Mt CO2e | Namibia |
| 2000s | 1.64 Mt CO2e | 1.58 Mt CO2e | 0.0597 Mt CO2e | Mauritania |
| 2010s | 1.91 Mt CO2e | 1.7 Mt CO2e | 0.2099 Mt CO2e | Mauritania |
| 2020s | 2.08 Mt CO2e | 1.86 Mt CO2e | 0.2181 Mt CO2e | Mauritania |
Averages of every year both report within each decade.

About this data
A measure of annual emissions of nitrous oxide (N2O), one of the six Kyoto greenhouse gases (GHG), from the agricultural sector. This includes emissions from livestock (IPCC 2006 codes 3.A.1 (enteric fermentation, 3.a.2 (manure management) and crops (IPCC 2006 codes 3.C.1 Emissions from biomass burning, 3.C.2 Liming, 3.C.3 Urea application, 3.C.4 Direct N2O Emissions from managed soils, 3.C.5 Indirect N2O Emissions from managed soils, 3.C.6 Indirect N2O Emissions from manure management, 3.C.7 Rice cultivations). The measure is standardized to carbon dioxide equivalent values using the Global Warming Potential (GWP) factors of IPCC's 5th Assessment Report (AR5).
