Paraguay vs Uruguay: Nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions from Agriculture
Nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions from Agriculture over time
- Paraguay
- Uruguay
How they compare
Uruguay currently reports 6.82 Mt CO2e against 5.65 Mt CO2e in Paraguay, a difference of 1.17 Mt CO2e.
That makes Uruguay's figure about 1.2 times Paraguay's.
The two have swapped places 2 times across 55 shared years of data; in 1970 it was Uruguay ahead.
Paraguay ranks 49th and Uruguay ranks 46th of 202 countries.
Across the 6 decades both report, Paraguay averaged higher in 1 and Uruguay in 5.
Head to head by decade
| Decade | Paraguay | Uruguay | Difference | Ahead |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1970s | 1.93 Mt CO2e | 4.66 Mt CO2e | 2.73 Mt CO2e | Uruguay |
| 1980s | 2.8 Mt CO2e | 5.05 Mt CO2e | 2.26 Mt CO2e | Uruguay |
| 1990s | 3.53 Mt CO2e | 5.18 Mt CO2e | 1.65 Mt CO2e | Uruguay |

About this data
A measure of annual emissions of nitrous oxide (N2O), one of the six Kyoto greenhouse gases (GHG), from the agricultural sector. This includes emissions from livestock (IPCC 2006 codes 3.A.1 (enteric fermentation, 3.a.2 (manure management) and crops (IPCC 2006 codes 3.C.1 Emissions from biomass burning, 3.C.2 Liming, 3.C.3 Urea application, 3.C.4 Direct N2O Emissions from managed soils, 3.C.5 Indirect N2O Emissions from managed soils, 3.C.6 Indirect N2O Emissions from manure management, 3.C.7 Rice cultivations). The measure is standardized to carbon dioxide equivalent values using the Global Warming Potential (GWP) factors of IPCC's 5th Assessment Report (AR5).
