Peru vs Small states: Nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions from Agriculture
Nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions from Agriculture over time
- Peru
- Small states
How they compare
Peru currently reports 5.88 Mt CO2e against 3.8 Mt CO2e in Small states, a difference of 2.08 Mt CO2e.
That makes Peru's figure about 1.5 times Small states's.
The two have swapped places 8 times across 55 shared years of data; in 1970 it was Peru ahead.
Peru ranks 47th and Small states ranks 43rd of 201 countries.
Across the 6 decades both report, Peru averaged higher in 5 and Small states in 1.
Head to head by decade
| Decade | Peru | Small states | Difference | Ahead |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1970s | 3.28 Mt CO2e | 3.17 Mt CO2e | 0.1139 Mt CO2e | Peru |
| 1980s | 3.32 Mt CO2e | 3.38 Mt CO2e | 0.0529 Mt CO2e | Small states |
| 1990s | 3.65 Mt CO2e | 3.48 Mt CO2e | 0.1739 Mt CO2e | Peru |
| 2000s | 4.78 Mt CO2e | 3.63 Mt CO2e | 1.15 Mt CO2e | Peru |
| 2010s | 5.56 Mt CO2e | 3.84 Mt CO2e | 1.72 Mt CO2e | Peru |
| 2020s | 5.98 Mt CO2e | 3.83 Mt CO2e | 2.15 Mt CO2e | Peru |
Averages of every year both report within each decade.

About this data
A measure of annual emissions of nitrous oxide (N2O), one of the six Kyoto greenhouse gases (GHG), from the agricultural sector. This includes emissions from livestock (IPCC 2006 codes 3.A.1 (enteric fermentation, 3.a.2 (manure management) and crops (IPCC 2006 codes 3.C.1 Emissions from biomass burning, 3.C.2 Liming, 3.C.3 Urea application, 3.C.4 Direct N2O Emissions from managed soils, 3.C.5 Indirect N2O Emissions from managed soils, 3.C.6 Indirect N2O Emissions from manure management, 3.C.7 Rice cultivations). The measure is standardized to carbon dioxide equivalent values using the Global Warming Potential (GWP) factors of IPCC's 5th Assessment Report (AR5).
