How they compare

Ethiopia currently reports 2.63 Mt CO2e against 2.02 Mt CO2e in Russian Federation, a difference of 0.61 Mt CO2e.

That makes Ethiopia's figure about 1.3 times Russian Federation's.

The two have swapped places 3 times across 55 shared years of data; in 1970 it was Russian Federation ahead.

Ethiopia ranks 5th and Russian Federation ranks 6th of 197 countries.

Across the 6 decades both report, Ethiopia averaged higher in 2 and Russian Federation in 4.

Head to head by decade

Decade Ethiopia Russian Federation Difference Ahead
1970s 0.3569 Mt CO2e 5.7 Mt CO2e 5.35 Mt CO2e Russian Federation
1980s 0.4503 Mt CO2e 6.83 Mt CO2e 6.38 Mt CO2e Russian Federation
1990s 1.04 Mt CO2e 3.36 Mt CO2e 2.32 Mt CO2e Russian Federation

A measure of annual emissions of nitrous oxide (N2O), one of the six Kyoto greenhouse gases (GHG), from the building sector (subsector of the energy sector) including IPCC 2006 codes 1.A.4 Residential and other sectors, 1.A.5 Non-Specified. The measure is standardized to carbon dioxide equivalent values using the Global Warming Potential (GWP) factors of IPCC's 5th Assessment Report (AR5).
