Malaysia vs Puerto Rico: Nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions from Power Industry (Energy)
Nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions from Power Industry (Energy) over time
- Malaysia
- Puerto Rico
How they compare
Malaysia currently reports 0.4114 Mt CO2e against 0.3889 Mt CO2e in Puerto Rico, a difference of 0.0225 Mt CO2e.
That makes Malaysia's figure about 1.1 times Puerto Rico's.
The two have swapped places 5 times across 55 shared years of data; in 1970 it was Puerto Rico ahead.
Malaysia ranks 25th and Puerto Rico ranks 26th of 194 countries.
Across the 6 decades both report, Malaysia averaged higher in 1 and Puerto Rico in 5.
Head to head by decade
| Decade | Malaysia | Puerto Rico | Difference | Ahead |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1970s | 0.005 Mt CO2e | 0.0686 Mt CO2e | 0.0635 Mt CO2e | Puerto Rico |
| 1980s | 0.0138 Mt CO2e | 0.0348 Mt CO2e | 0.021 Mt CO2e | Puerto Rico |
| 1990s | 0.0344 Mt CO2e | 0.0848 Mt CO2e | 0.0504 Mt CO2e | Puerto Rico |
| 2000s | 0.1011 Mt CO2e | 0.5299 Mt CO2e | 0.4288 Mt CO2e | Puerto Rico |
| 2010s | 0.2807 Mt CO2e | 0.588 Mt CO2e | 0.3074 Mt CO2e | Puerto Rico |
| 2020s | 0.3851 Mt CO2e | 0.377 Mt CO2e | 0.0081 Mt CO2e | Malaysia |
Averages of every year both report within each decade.

About this data
A measure of annual emissions of nitrous oxide (N2O), one of the six Kyoto greenhouse gases (GHG), from electricity and heat generation (subsector of the energy sector) including IPCC 2006 code 1.A.1.a. The measure is standardized to carbon dioxide equivalent values using the Global Warming Potential (GWP) factors of IPCC's 5th Assessment Report (AR5).
