Chile vs Viet Nam: Nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions from Transport (Energy)
Nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions from Transport (Energy) over time
- Chile
- Viet Nam
How they compare
Viet Nam currently reports 0.4764 Mt CO2e against 0.4238 Mt CO2e in Chile, a difference of 0.0526 Mt CO2e.
That makes Viet Nam's figure about 1.1 times Chile's.
The two have swapped places 5 times across 55 shared years of data; in 1970 it was Chile ahead.
Chile ranks 35th and Viet Nam ranks 32nd of 194 countries.
Chile has averaged higher in every one of the 6 decades both report.
Head to head by decade
| Decade | Chile | Viet Nam | Difference | Ahead |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1970s | 0.0777 Mt CO2e | 0.0109 Mt CO2e | 0.0668 Mt CO2e | Chile |
| 1980s | 0.0974 Mt CO2e | 0.0266 Mt CO2e | 0.0708 Mt CO2e | Chile |
| 1990s | 0.3169 Mt CO2e | 0.0851 Mt CO2e | 0.2319 Mt CO2e | Chile |
| 2000s | 0.3247 Mt CO2e | 0.2369 Mt CO2e | 0.0877 Mt CO2e | Chile |
| 2010s | 0.3675 Mt CO2e | 0.3656 Mt CO2e | 0.0019 Mt CO2e | Chile |
| 2020s | 0.4149 Mt CO2e | 0.3935 Mt CO2e | 0.0214 Mt CO2e | Chile |
Averages of every year both report within each decade.

About this data
A measure of annual emissions of nitrous oxide (N2O), one of the six Kyoto greenhouse gases (GHG), from the transportation sector (subsector of the energy sector) including IPCC 2006 codes 1.A.3.a Civil Aviation, 1.A.3.b_noRES Road Transportation no resuspension, 1.A.3.c Railways, 1.A.3.d Water-borne Navigation, 1.A.3.e Other Transportation. The measure is standardized to carbon dioxide equivalent values using the Global Warming Potential (GWP) factors of IPCC's 5th Assessment Report (AR5).
