Jamaica vs Latvia: Nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions from Transport (Energy)
Nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions from Transport (Energy) over time
- Jamaica
- Latvia
How they compare
Latvia currently reports 0.0317 Mt CO2e against 0.0295 Mt CO2e in Jamaica, a difference of 0.0022 Mt CO2e.
That makes Latvia's figure about 1.1 times Jamaica's.
The two have swapped places 2 times across 55 shared years of data; in 1970 it was Latvia ahead.
Jamaica ranks 118th and Latvia ranks 115th of 194 countries.
Latvia has averaged higher in every one of the 6 decades both report.
Head to head by decade
| Decade | Jamaica | Latvia | Difference | Ahead |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1970s | 0.0099 Mt CO2e | 0.0823 Mt CO2e | 0.0724 Mt CO2e | Latvia |
| 1980s | 0.0092 Mt CO2e | 0.1014 Mt CO2e | 0.0922 Mt CO2e | Latvia |
| 1990s | 0.0212 Mt CO2e | 0.0475 Mt CO2e | 0.0263 Mt CO2e | Latvia |
| 2000s | 0.0244 Mt CO2e | 0.0445 Mt CO2e | 0.0201 Mt CO2e | Latvia |
| 2010s | 0.0201 Mt CO2e | 0.0423 Mt CO2e | 0.0222 Mt CO2e | Latvia |
| 2020s | 0.0268 Mt CO2e | 0.033 Mt CO2e | 0.0062 Mt CO2e | Latvia |
Averages of every year both report within each decade.

About this data
A measure of annual emissions of nitrous oxide (N2O), one of the six Kyoto greenhouse gases (GHG), from the transportation sector (subsector of the energy sector) including IPCC 2006 codes 1.A.3.a Civil Aviation, 1.A.3.b_noRES Road Transportation no resuspension, 1.A.3.c Railways, 1.A.3.d Water-borne Navigation, 1.A.3.e Other Transportation. The measure is standardized to carbon dioxide equivalent values using the Global Warming Potential (GWP) factors of IPCC's 5th Assessment Report (AR5).
