American Samoa vs Northern Mariana Islands: Nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions from Waste
Nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions from Waste over time
- American Samoa
- Northern Mariana Islands
How they compare
Northern Mariana Islands currently reports 0.0009 Mt CO2e against 0.0008 Mt CO2e in American Samoa, a difference of 0.0001 Mt CO2e.
That makes Northern Mariana Islands's figure about 1.1 times American Samoa's.
The two have swapped places 2 times across 55 shared years of data; in 1970 it was Northern Mariana Islands ahead.
American Samoa ranks 193rd and Northern Mariana Islands ranks 190th of 203 countries.
Across the 6 decades both report, American Samoa averaged higher in 1 and Northern Mariana Islands in 2.

About this data
A measure of annual emissions of nitrous oxide (N2O), one of the six Kyoto greenhouse gases (GHG), from the waste sector. This includes emissions from solid waste (IPCC 2006 codes 4.A Solid Waste Disposal, 4.B Biological Treatment of Solid Waste, 4.C Incineration and Open Burning of Waste) and wastewater treatment (IPCC 2006 code 4.D Wastewater Treatment and Discharge). The measure is standardized to carbon dioxide equivalent values using the Global Warming Potential (GWP) factors of IPCC's 5th Assessment Report (AR5).
