Argentina vs Iran: Nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions from Waste
Nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions from Waste over time
- Argentina
- Iran
How they compare
Iran currently reports 1.19 Mt CO2e against 0.9712 Mt CO2e in Argentina, a difference of 0.2188 Mt CO2e.
That makes Iran's figure about 1.2 times Argentina's.
The two have swapped places 1 time across 55 shared years of data; in 1970 it was Argentina ahead.
Argentina ranks 27th and Iran ranks 25th of 203 countries.
Across the 6 decades both report, Argentina averaged higher in 1 and Iran in 5.
Head to head by decade
| Decade | Argentina | Iran | Difference | Ahead |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1970s | 0.455 Mt CO2e | 0.3508 Mt CO2e | 0.1042 Mt CO2e | Argentina |
| 1980s | 0.5193 Mt CO2e | 0.5973 Mt CO2e | 0.0779 Mt CO2e | Iran |
| 1990s | 0.5862 Mt CO2e | 0.8347 Mt CO2e | 0.2485 Mt CO2e | Iran |
| 2000s | 0.6316 Mt CO2e | 0.9899 Mt CO2e | 0.3583 Mt CO2e | Iran |
| 2010s | 0.7818 Mt CO2e | 1.15 Mt CO2e | 0.3689 Mt CO2e | Iran |
| 2020s | 0.933 Mt CO2e | 1.19 Mt CO2e | 0.2536 Mt CO2e | Iran |
Averages of every year both report within each decade.

About this data
A measure of annual emissions of nitrous oxide (N2O), one of the six Kyoto greenhouse gases (GHG), from the waste sector. This includes emissions from solid waste (IPCC 2006 codes 4.A Solid Waste Disposal, 4.B Biological Treatment of Solid Waste, 4.C Incineration and Open Burning of Waste) and wastewater treatment (IPCC 2006 code 4.D Wastewater Treatment and Discharge). The measure is standardized to carbon dioxide equivalent values using the Global Warming Potential (GWP) factors of IPCC's 5th Assessment Report (AR5).
