Argentina vs North America: Nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions from Waste
Nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions from Waste over time
- Argentina
- North America
How they compare
North America currently reports 11.28 Mt CO2e against 0.9712 Mt CO2e in Argentina, a difference of 10.31 Mt CO2e.
That makes North America's figure about 11.6 times Argentina's.
Across all 55 years both countries report, North America has been ahead every year.
Argentina ranks 27th and North America ranks 28th of 203 countries.
North America has averaged higher in every one of the 6 decades both report.
Head to head by decade
| Decade | Argentina | North America | Difference | Ahead |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1970s | 0.455 Mt CO2e | 4.94 Mt CO2e | 4.48 Mt CO2e | North America |
| 1980s | 0.5193 Mt CO2e | 5.58 Mt CO2e | 5.06 Mt CO2e | North America |

About this data
A measure of annual emissions of nitrous oxide (N2O), one of the six Kyoto greenhouse gases (GHG), from the waste sector. This includes emissions from solid waste (IPCC 2006 codes 4.A Solid Waste Disposal, 4.B Biological Treatment of Solid Waste, 4.C Incineration and Open Burning of Waste) and wastewater treatment (IPCC 2006 code 4.D Wastewater Treatment and Discharge). The measure is standardized to carbon dioxide equivalent values using the Global Warming Potential (GWP) factors of IPCC's 5th Assessment Report (AR5).
