Argentina vs Thailand: Nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions from Waste
Nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions from Waste over time
- Argentina
- Thailand
How they compare
Argentina currently reports 0.9712 Mt CO2e against 0.9187 Mt CO2e in Thailand, a difference of 0.0525 Mt CO2e.
That makes Argentina's figure about 1.1 times Thailand's.
The two have swapped places 4 times across 55 shared years of data; in 1970 it was Argentina ahead.
Argentina ranks 27th and Thailand ranks 28th of 203 countries.
Across the 6 decades both report, Argentina averaged higher in 3 and Thailand in 3.
Head to head by decade
| Decade | Argentina | Thailand | Difference | Ahead |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1970s | 0.455 Mt CO2e | 0.3775 Mt CO2e | 0.0775 Mt CO2e | Argentina |
| 1980s | 0.5193 Mt CO2e | 0.4756 Mt CO2e | 0.0437 Mt CO2e | Argentina |
| 1990s | 0.5862 Mt CO2e | 0.5899 Mt CO2e | 0.0037 Mt CO2e | Thailand |
| 2000s | 0.6316 Mt CO2e | 0.6777 Mt CO2e | 0.046 Mt CO2e | Thailand |
| 2010s | 0.7818 Mt CO2e | 0.801 Mt CO2e | 0.0192 Mt CO2e | Thailand |
| 2020s | 0.933 Mt CO2e | 0.8876 Mt CO2e | 0.0454 Mt CO2e | Argentina |
Averages of every year both report within each decade.

About this data
A measure of annual emissions of nitrous oxide (N2O), one of the six Kyoto greenhouse gases (GHG), from the waste sector. This includes emissions from solid waste (IPCC 2006 codes 4.A Solid Waste Disposal, 4.B Biological Treatment of Solid Waste, 4.C Incineration and Open Burning of Waste) and wastewater treatment (IPCC 2006 code 4.D Wastewater Treatment and Discharge). The measure is standardized to carbon dioxide equivalent values using the Global Warming Potential (GWP) factors of IPCC's 5th Assessment Report (AR5).
