Bahamas vs Suriname: Nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions from Waste
Nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions from Waste over time
- Bahamas
- Suriname
How they compare
Suriname currently reports 0.0076 Mt CO2e against 0.0072 Mt CO2e in Bahamas, a difference of 0.0004 Mt CO2e.
That makes Suriname's figure about 1.1 times Bahamas's.
The two have swapped places 2 times across 55 shared years of data; in 1970 it was Suriname ahead.
Bahamas ranks 168th and Suriname ranks 166th of 203 countries.
Suriname has averaged higher in every one of the 6 decades both report.
Head to head by decade
| Decade | Bahamas | Suriname | Difference | Ahead |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1970s | 0.0022 Mt CO2e | 0.0035 Mt CO2e | 0.0012 Mt CO2e | Suriname |
| 1980s | 0.0032 Mt CO2e | 0.004 Mt CO2e | 0.0008 Mt CO2e | Suriname |
| 1990s | 0.0037 Mt CO2e | 0.0044 Mt CO2e | 0.0008 Mt CO2e | Suriname |
| 2000s | 0.0048 Mt CO2e | 0.0049 Mt CO2e | 0 Mt CO2e | Suriname |
| 2010s | 0.0062 Mt CO2e | 0.0066 Mt CO2e | 0.0004 Mt CO2e | Suriname |
| 2020s | 0.007 Mt CO2e | 0.0074 Mt CO2e | 0.0005 Mt CO2e | Suriname |
Averages of every year both report within each decade.

About this data
A measure of annual emissions of nitrous oxide (N2O), one of the six Kyoto greenhouse gases (GHG), from the waste sector. This includes emissions from solid waste (IPCC 2006 codes 4.A Solid Waste Disposal, 4.B Biological Treatment of Solid Waste, 4.C Incineration and Open Burning of Waste) and wastewater treatment (IPCC 2006 code 4.D Wastewater Treatment and Discharge). The measure is standardized to carbon dioxide equivalent values using the Global Warming Potential (GWP) factors of IPCC's 5th Assessment Report (AR5).
