Bangladesh vs France: Nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions from Waste
Nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions from Waste over time
- Bangladesh
- France
How they compare
Bangladesh currently reports 2.03 Mt CO2e against 1.85 Mt CO2e in France, a difference of 0.18 Mt CO2e.
That makes Bangladesh's figure about 1.1 times France's.
The two have swapped places 1 time across 55 shared years of data; in 1970 it was France ahead.
Bangladesh ranks 13th and France ranks 15th of 203 countries.
Across the 6 decades both report, Bangladesh averaged higher in 1 and France in 5.
Head to head by decade
| Decade | Bangladesh | France | Difference | Ahead |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1970s | 0.5388 Mt CO2e | 1.17 Mt CO2e | 0.6282 Mt CO2e | France |
| 1980s | 0.6791 Mt CO2e | 1.28 Mt CO2e | 0.6046 Mt CO2e | France |
| 1990s | 0.8924 Mt CO2e | 1.38 Mt CO2e | 0.4921 Mt CO2e | France |
| 2000s | 1.23 Mt CO2e | 1.49 Mt CO2e | 0.2539 Mt CO2e | France |
| 2010s | 1.6 Mt CO2e | 1.71 Mt CO2e | 0.1123 Mt CO2e | France |
| 2020s | 1.94 Mt CO2e | 1.84 Mt CO2e | 0.0996 Mt CO2e | Bangladesh |
Averages of every year both report within each decade.

About this data
A measure of annual emissions of nitrous oxide (N2O), one of the six Kyoto greenhouse gases (GHG), from the waste sector. This includes emissions from solid waste (IPCC 2006 codes 4.A Solid Waste Disposal, 4.B Biological Treatment of Solid Waste, 4.C Incineration and Open Burning of Waste) and wastewater treatment (IPCC 2006 code 4.D Wastewater Treatment and Discharge). The measure is standardized to carbon dioxide equivalent values using the Global Warming Potential (GWP) factors of IPCC's 5th Assessment Report (AR5).
