Bermuda vs Gibraltar: Nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions from Waste
Nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions from Waste over time
- Bermuda
- Gibraltar
How they compare
Gibraltar currently reports 0.0006 Mt CO2e against 0.0005 Mt CO2e in Bermuda, a difference of 0.0001 Mt CO2e.
That makes Gibraltar's figure about 1.2 times Bermuda's.
The two have swapped places 1 time across 55 shared years of data; in 1970 it was Bermuda ahead.
Bermuda ranks 197th and Gibraltar ranks 196th of 203 countries.
Bermuda has averaged higher in every one of the 6 decades both report.
Head to head by decade
| Decade | Bermuda | Gibraltar | Difference | Ahead |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1970s | 0.002 Mt CO2e | 0.0001 Mt CO2e | 0.0019 Mt CO2e | Bermuda |
| 1980s | 0.0021 Mt CO2e | 0 Mt CO2e | 0.0021 Mt CO2e | Bermuda |
| 1990s | 0.0021 Mt CO2e | 0 Mt CO2e | 0.0021 Mt CO2e | Bermuda |
| 2000s | 0.002 Mt CO2e | 0.0005 Mt CO2e | 0.0015 Mt CO2e | Bermuda |
| 2010s | 0.0012 Mt CO2e | 0.0005 Mt CO2e | 0.0007 Mt CO2e | Bermuda |
| 2020s | 0.0007 Mt CO2e | 0.0006 Mt CO2e | 0.0001 Mt CO2e | Bermuda |
Averages of every year both report within each decade.

About this data
A measure of annual emissions of nitrous oxide (N2O), one of the six Kyoto greenhouse gases (GHG), from the waste sector. This includes emissions from solid waste (IPCC 2006 codes 4.A Solid Waste Disposal, 4.B Biological Treatment of Solid Waste, 4.C Incineration and Open Burning of Waste) and wastewater treatment (IPCC 2006 code 4.D Wastewater Treatment and Discharge). The measure is standardized to carbon dioxide equivalent values using the Global Warming Potential (GWP) factors of IPCC's 5th Assessment Report (AR5).
