Estonia vs Puerto Rico: Nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions from Waste
Nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions from Waste over time
- Estonia
- Puerto Rico
How they compare
Puerto Rico currently reports 0.0453 Mt CO2e against 0.0359 Mt CO2e in Estonia, a difference of 0.0094 Mt CO2e.
That makes Puerto Rico's figure about 1.3 times Estonia's.
The two have swapped places 1 time across 55 shared years of data; in 1970 it was Estonia ahead.
Estonia ranks 141st and Puerto Rico ranks 138th of 203 countries.
Across the 6 decades both report, Estonia averaged higher in 2 and Puerto Rico in 4.
Head to head by decade
| Decade | Estonia | Puerto Rico | Difference | Ahead |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1970s | 0.0243 Mt CO2e | 0.0193 Mt CO2e | 0.005 Mt CO2e | Estonia |
| 1980s | 0.0262 Mt CO2e | 0.0256 Mt CO2e | 0.0006 Mt CO2e | Estonia |

About this data
A measure of annual emissions of nitrous oxide (N2O), one of the six Kyoto greenhouse gases (GHG), from the waste sector. This includes emissions from solid waste (IPCC 2006 codes 4.A Solid Waste Disposal, 4.B Biological Treatment of Solid Waste, 4.C Incineration and Open Burning of Waste) and wastewater treatment (IPCC 2006 code 4.D Wastewater Treatment and Discharge). The measure is standardized to carbon dioxide equivalent values using the Global Warming Potential (GWP) factors of IPCC's 5th Assessment Report (AR5).
