Ireland vs Tajikistan: Nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions from Waste
Nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions from Waste over time
- Ireland
- Tajikistan
How they compare
Tajikistan currently reports 0.1463 Mt CO2e against 0.1392 Mt CO2e in Ireland, a difference of 0.0071 Mt CO2e.
That makes Tajikistan's figure about 1.1 times Ireland's.
The two have swapped places 1 time across 55 shared years of data; in 1970 it was Ireland ahead.
Ireland ranks 96th and Tajikistan ranks 95th of 203 countries.
Across the 6 decades both report, Ireland averaged higher in 5 and Tajikistan in 1.
Head to head by decade
| Decade | Ireland | Tajikistan | Difference | Ahead |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1970s | 0.0597 Mt CO2e | 0.031 Mt CO2e | 0.0287 Mt CO2e | Ireland |
| 1980s | 0.0679 Mt CO2e | 0.0417 Mt CO2e | 0.0262 Mt CO2e | Ireland |
| 1990s | 0.0714 Mt CO2e | 0.0488 Mt CO2e | 0.0226 Mt CO2e | Ireland |
| 2000s | 0.0945 Mt CO2e | 0.0577 Mt CO2e | 0.0368 Mt CO2e | Ireland |
| 2010s | 0.1134 Mt CO2e | 0.1012 Mt CO2e | 0.0122 Mt CO2e | Ireland |
| 2020s | 0.1325 Mt CO2e | 0.1389 Mt CO2e | 0.0063 Mt CO2e | Tajikistan |
Averages of every year both report within each decade.

About this data
A measure of annual emissions of nitrous oxide (N2O), one of the six Kyoto greenhouse gases (GHG), from the waste sector. This includes emissions from solid waste (IPCC 2006 codes 4.A Solid Waste Disposal, 4.B Biological Treatment of Solid Waste, 4.C Incineration and Open Burning of Waste) and wastewater treatment (IPCC 2006 code 4.D Wastewater Treatment and Discharge). The measure is standardized to carbon dioxide equivalent values using the Global Warming Potential (GWP) factors of IPCC's 5th Assessment Report (AR5).
