Italy vs Philippines: Nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions from Waste
Nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions from Waste over time
- Italy
- Philippines
How they compare
Philippines currently reports 1.52 Mt CO2e against 1.37 Mt CO2e in Italy, a difference of 0.15 Mt CO2e.
That makes Philippines's figure about 1.1 times Italy's.
The two have swapped places 1 time across 55 shared years of data; in 1970 it was Italy ahead.
Italy ranks 22nd and Philippines ranks 21st of 203 countries.
Across the 6 decades both report, Italy averaged higher in 5 and Philippines in 1.
Head to head by decade
| Decade | Italy | Philippines | Difference | Ahead |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1970s | 0.9749 Mt CO2e | 0.3141 Mt CO2e | 0.6608 Mt CO2e | Italy |
| 1980s | 1.03 Mt CO2e | 0.4398 Mt CO2e | 0.5951 Mt CO2e | Italy |
| 1990s | 1.11 Mt CO2e | 0.615 Mt CO2e | 0.4986 Mt CO2e | Italy |
| 2000s | 1.28 Mt CO2e | 0.8312 Mt CO2e | 0.445 Mt CO2e | Italy |
| 2010s | 1.37 Mt CO2e | 1.2 Mt CO2e | 0.1729 Mt CO2e | Italy |
| 2020s | 1.38 Mt CO2e | 1.46 Mt CO2e | 0.0824 Mt CO2e | Philippines |
Averages of every year both report within each decade.

About this data
A measure of annual emissions of nitrous oxide (N2O), one of the six Kyoto greenhouse gases (GHG), from the waste sector. This includes emissions from solid waste (IPCC 2006 codes 4.A Solid Waste Disposal, 4.B Biological Treatment of Solid Waste, 4.C Incineration and Open Burning of Waste) and wastewater treatment (IPCC 2006 code 4.D Wastewater Treatment and Discharge). The measure is standardized to carbon dioxide equivalent values using the Global Warming Potential (GWP) factors of IPCC's 5th Assessment Report (AR5).
