Libya vs Turkmenistan: Nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions from Waste
Nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions from Waste over time
- Libya
- Turkmenistan
How they compare
Libya currently reports 0.1177 Mt CO2e against 0.1045 Mt CO2e in Turkmenistan, a difference of 0.0132 Mt CO2e.
That makes Libya's figure about 1.1 times Turkmenistan's.
The two have swapped places 5 times across 55 shared years of data; in 1970 it was Turkmenistan ahead.
Libya ranks 102nd and Turkmenistan ranks 105th of 203 countries.
Across the 6 decades both report, Libya averaged higher in 3 and Turkmenistan in 3.
Head to head by decade
| Decade | Libya | Turkmenistan | Difference | Ahead |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1970s | 0.024 Mt CO2e | 0.0318 Mt CO2e | 0.0077 Mt CO2e | Turkmenistan |
| 1980s | 0.041 Mt CO2e | 0.0412 Mt CO2e | 0.0002 Mt CO2e | Turkmenistan |
| 1990s | 0.0498 Mt CO2e | 0.0516 Mt CO2e | 0.0018 Mt CO2e | Turkmenistan |

About this data
A measure of annual emissions of nitrous oxide (N2O), one of the six Kyoto greenhouse gases (GHG), from the waste sector. This includes emissions from solid waste (IPCC 2006 codes 4.A Solid Waste Disposal, 4.B Biological Treatment of Solid Waste, 4.C Incineration and Open Burning of Waste) and wastewater treatment (IPCC 2006 code 4.D Wastewater Treatment and Discharge). The measure is standardized to carbon dioxide equivalent values using the Global Warming Potential (GWP) factors of IPCC's 5th Assessment Report (AR5).
