How they compare

Russia currently reports 3.08 Mt CO2e against 2.41 Mt CO2e in Mexico, a difference of 0.67 Mt CO2e.

That makes Russia's figure about 1.3 times Mexico's.

Across all 55 years both countries report, Russia has been ahead every year.

Mexico ranks 9th and Russia ranks 6th of 203 countries.

Russia has averaged higher in every one of the 6 decades both report.

Head to head by decade

Decade Mexico Russia Difference Ahead
1970s 0.705 Mt CO2e 2.12 Mt CO2e 1.42 Mt CO2e Russia
1980s 1.05 Mt CO2e 2.28 Mt CO2e 1.23 Mt CO2e Russia

A measure of annual emissions of nitrous oxide (N2O), one of the six Kyoto greenhouse gases (GHG), from the waste sector. This includes emissions from solid waste (IPCC 2006 codes 4.A Solid Waste Disposal, 4.B Biological Treatment of Solid Waste, 4.C Incineration and Open Burning of Waste) and wastewater treatment (IPCC 2006 code 4.D Wastewater Treatment and Discharge). The measure is standardized to carbon dioxide equivalent values using the Global Warming Potential (GWP) factors of IPCC's 5th Assessment Report (AR5).
