Myanmar vs South Africa: Nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions from Waste
Nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions from Waste over time
- Myanmar
- South Africa
How they compare
South Africa currently reports 0.8452 Mt CO2e against 0.6975 Mt CO2e in Myanmar, a difference of 0.1477 Mt CO2e.
That makes South Africa's figure about 1.2 times Myanmar's.
The two have swapped places 2 times across 55 shared years of data; in 1970 it was South Africa ahead.
Myanmar ranks 33rd and South Africa ranks 30th of 203 countries.
Across the 6 decades both report, Myanmar averaged higher in 1 and South Africa in 5.
Head to head by decade
| Decade | Myanmar | South Africa | Difference | Ahead |

About this data
A measure of annual emissions of nitrous oxide (N2O), one of the six Kyoto greenhouse gases (GHG), from the waste sector. This includes emissions from solid waste (IPCC 2006 codes 4.A Solid Waste Disposal, 4.B Biological Treatment of Solid Waste, 4.C Incineration and Open Burning of Waste) and wastewater treatment (IPCC 2006 code 4.D Wastewater Treatment and Discharge). The measure is standardized to carbon dioxide equivalent values using the Global Warming Potential (GWP) factors of IPCC's 5th Assessment Report (AR5).
