Myanmar vs Ukraine: Nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions from Waste
Nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions from Waste over time
- Myanmar
- Ukraine
How they compare
Myanmar currently reports 0.6975 Mt CO2e against 0.6444 Mt CO2e in Ukraine, a difference of 0.0531 Mt CO2e.
That makes Myanmar's figure about 1.1 times Ukraine's.
The two have swapped places 1 time across 55 shared years of data; in 1970 it was Ukraine ahead.
Myanmar ranks 33rd and Ukraine ranks 35th of 203 countries.
Across the 6 decades both report, Myanmar averaged higher in 2 and Ukraine in 4.
Head to head by decade
| Decade | Myanmar | Ukraine | Difference | Ahead |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1970s | 0.1885 Mt CO2e | 0.7618 Mt CO2e | 0.5733 Mt CO2e | Ukraine |
| 1980s | 0.283 Mt CO2e | 0.7966 Mt CO2e | 0.5136 Mt CO2e | Ukraine |
| 1990s | 0.3405 Mt CO2e | 0.7309 Mt CO2e | 0.3904 Mt CO2e | Ukraine |
| 2000s | 0.5044 Mt CO2e | 0.6903 Mt CO2e | 0.1859 Mt CO2e | Ukraine |
| 2010s | 0.8145 Mt CO2e | 0.7205 Mt CO2e | 0.0939 Mt CO2e | Myanmar |
| 2020s | 0.741 Mt CO2e | 0.662 Mt CO2e | 0.079 Mt CO2e | Myanmar |
Averages of every year both report within each decade.

About this data
A measure of annual emissions of nitrous oxide (N2O), one of the six Kyoto greenhouse gases (GHG), from the waste sector. This includes emissions from solid waste (IPCC 2006 codes 4.A Solid Waste Disposal, 4.B Biological Treatment of Solid Waste, 4.C Incineration and Open Burning of Waste) and wastewater treatment (IPCC 2006 code 4.D Wastewater Treatment and Discharge). The measure is standardized to carbon dioxide equivalent values using the Global Warming Potential (GWP) factors of IPCC's 5th Assessment Report (AR5).
