Ethiopia vs Latvia: Nutrient balance — Cropland nitrogen per unit area
Nutrient balance — Cropland nitrogen per unit area over time
- Ethiopia
- Latvia
How they compare
Latvia currently reports 26.46 kg/ha against 24.95 kg/ha in Ethiopia, a difference of 1.51 kg/ha.
That makes Latvia's figure about 1.1 times Ethiopia's.
Across all 31 years both countries report, Latvia has been ahead every year.
Ethiopia ranks 119th and Latvia ranks 116th of 201 countries.
Latvia has averaged higher in every one of the 4 decades both report.
Head to head by decade
| Decade | Ethiopia | Latvia | Difference | Ahead |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1990s | 12.17 kg/ha | 30.37 kg/ha | 18.2 kg/ha | Latvia |
| 2000s | 11.05 kg/ha | 29.13 kg/ha | 18.08 kg/ha | Latvia |

About this data
The Cropland Nutrient balance domain contains information on the flows of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium from mineral fertilizer, manure applied, atmospheric deposition, crop removal, and biological fixation over cropland and per unit area of cropland. The flows are aggregated to total inputs and total outputs, from which the overall nutrient balance and nutrient use efficiency on cropland are calculated. Statistics are disseminated in units of tonnes and in kg/ha, as appropriate. Nutrient use efficiency is expressed as a fraction (%).
