Costa Rica vs Iceland: Nutrient balance — Cropland phosphorus per unit area
Nutrient balance — Cropland phosphorus per unit area over time
- Costa Rica
- Iceland
How they compare
Iceland currently reports 16.36 kg/ha against 15.57 kg/ha in Costa Rica, a difference of 0.79 kg/ha.
That makes Iceland's figure about 1.1 times Costa Rica's.
The two have swapped places 4 times across 63 shared years of data; in 1961 it was Iceland ahead.
Costa Rica ranks 33rd and Iceland ranks 31st of 186 countries.
Iceland has averaged higher in every one of the 7 decades both report.
Head to head by decade
| Decade | Costa Rica | Iceland | Difference | Ahead |

About this data
The Cropland Nutrient balance domain contains information on the flows of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium from mineral fertilizer, manure applied, atmospheric deposition, crop removal, and biological fixation over cropland and per unit area of cropland. The flows are aggregated to total inputs and total outputs, from which the overall nutrient balance and nutrient use efficiency on cropland are calculated. Statistics are disseminated in units of tonnes and in kg/ha, as appropriate. Nutrient use efficiency is expressed as a fraction (%).
