Cyprus vs Japan: Nutrient balance — Cropland phosphorus per unit area
Nutrient balance — Cropland phosphorus per unit area over time
- Cyprus
- Japan
How they compare
Japan currently reports 22.49 kg/ha against 21.16 kg/ha in Cyprus, a difference of 1.33 kg/ha.
That makes Japan's figure about 1.1 times Cyprus's.
The two have swapped places 2 times across 63 shared years of data; in 1961 it was Japan ahead.
Cyprus ranks 22nd and Japan ranks 19th of 186 countries.
Japan has averaged higher in every one of the 7 decades both report.
Head to head by decade
| Decade | Cyprus | Japan | Difference | Ahead |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1960s | 6.7 kg/ha | 32.83 kg/ha | 26.13 kg/ha | Japan |
| 1970s | 13.53 kg/ha | 50.96 kg/ha | 37.44 kg/ha | Japan |

About this data
The Cropland Nutrient balance domain contains information on the flows of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium from mineral fertilizer, manure applied, atmospheric deposition, crop removal, and biological fixation over cropland and per unit area of cropland. The flows are aggregated to total inputs and total outputs, from which the overall nutrient balance and nutrient use efficiency on cropland are calculated. Statistics are disseminated in units of tonnes and in kg/ha, as appropriate. Nutrient use efficiency is expressed as a fraction (%).
