Ethiopia vs Mauritania: Nutrient balance — Cropland phosphorus per unit area
Nutrient balance — Cropland phosphorus per unit area over time
- Ethiopia
- Mauritania
How they compare
Ethiopia currently reports 0.5531 kg/ha against 0.2703 kg/ha in Mauritania, a difference of 0.2828 kg/ha.
That makes Ethiopia's figure about 2.0 times Mauritania's.
The two have swapped places 5 times across 31 shared years of data; in 1993 it was Mauritania ahead.
Ethiopia ranks 116th and Mauritania ranks 119th of 186 countries.
Across the 4 decades both report, Ethiopia averaged higher in 1 and Mauritania in 3.
Head to head by decade
| Decade | Ethiopia | Mauritania | Difference | Ahead |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1990s | 1.03 kg/ha | 0.8355 kg/ha | 0.1926 kg/ha | Ethiopia |
| 2000s | -0.2532 kg/ha | 1.66 kg/ha | 1.91 kg/ha | Mauritania |

About this data
The Cropland Nutrient balance domain contains information on the flows of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium from mineral fertilizer, manure applied, atmospheric deposition, crop removal, and biological fixation over cropland and per unit area of cropland. The flows are aggregated to total inputs and total outputs, from which the overall nutrient balance and nutrient use efficiency on cropland are calculated. Statistics are disseminated in units of tonnes and in kg/ha, as appropriate. Nutrient use efficiency is expressed as a fraction (%).
