China vs Melanesia: Outputs — Cropland phosphorus per unit area
Outputs — Cropland phosphorus per unit area over time
- China
- Melanesia
How they compare
China currently reports 26.48 kg/ha against 7.95 kg/ha in Melanesia, a difference of 18.53 kg/ha.
That makes China's figure about 3.3 times Melanesia's.
The two have swapped places 1 time across 63 shared years of data; in 1961 it was Melanesia ahead.
China ranks 6th and Melanesia ranks 8th of 186 countries.
China has averaged higher in every one of the 7 decades both report.
Head to head by decade
| Decade | China | Melanesia | Difference | Ahead |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1960s | 7.67 kg/ha | 7.6 kg/ha | 0.0783 kg/ha | China |
| 1970s | 11.02 kg/ha | 7.34 kg/ha | 3.68 kg/ha | China |

About this data
The Cropland Nutrient balance domain contains information on the flows of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium from mineral fertilizer, manure applied, atmospheric deposition, crop removal, and biological fixation over cropland and per unit area of cropland. The flows are aggregated to total inputs and total outputs, from which the overall nutrient balance and nutrient use efficiency on cropland are calculated. Statistics are disseminated in units of tonnes and in kg/ha, as appropriate. Nutrient use efficiency is expressed as a fraction (%).
