How they compare

USSR currently reports 2.12 kg/ha against 1.95 kg/ha in Germany, a difference of 0.17 kg/ha.

That makes USSR's figure about 1.1 times Germany's.

The two have swapped places 2 times across 31 shared years of data; in 1961 it was Germany ahead.

Germany ranks 48th and USSR ranks 45th of 201 countries.

Across the 4 decades both report, Germany averaged higher in 3 and USSR in 1.

Head to head by decade

Decade Germany USSR Difference Ahead
1960s 2.67 kg/ha 2.11 kg/ha 0.5609 kg/ha Germany
1970s 2.61 kg/ha 2.26 kg/ha 0.3485 kg/ha Germany

The Cropland Nutrient balance domain contains information on the flows of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium from mineral fertilizer, manure applied, atmospheric deposition, crop removal, and biological fixation over cropland and per unit area of cropland. The flows are aggregated to total inputs and total outputs, from which the overall nutrient balance and nutrient use efficiency on cropland are calculated. Statistics are disseminated in units of tonnes and in kg/ha, as appropriate. Nutrient use efficiency is expressed as a fraction (%).
