Ireland vs Northern America: Volatilisation — Cropland nitrogen per unit area
Volatilisation — Cropland nitrogen per unit area over time
- Ireland
- Northern America
How they compare
Ireland currently reports 80.16 kg/ha against 21.35 kg/ha in Northern America, a difference of 58.81 kg/ha.
That makes Ireland's figure about 3.8 times Northern America's.
Across all 63 years both countries report, Ireland has been ahead every year.
Ireland ranks 13th and Northern America ranks 12th of 186 countries.
Ireland has averaged higher in every one of the 7 decades both report.
Head to head by decade
| Decade | Ireland | Northern America | Difference | Ahead |

About this data
The Cropland Nutrient balance domain contains information on the flows of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium from mineral fertilizer, manure applied, atmospheric deposition, crop removal, and biological fixation over cropland and per unit area of cropland. The flows are aggregated to total inputs and total outputs, from which the overall nutrient balance and nutrient use efficiency on cropland are calculated. Statistics are disseminated in units of tonnes and in kg/ha, as appropriate. Nutrient use efficiency is expressed as a fraction (%).
