Italy vs Portugal: Volatilisation — Cropland nitrogen per unit area
Volatilisation — Cropland nitrogen per unit area over time
- Italy
- Portugal
How they compare
Italy currently reports 27.71 kg/ha against 26.08 kg/ha in Portugal, a difference of 1.63 kg/ha.
That makes Italy's figure about 1.1 times Portugal's.
The two have swapped places 8 times across 63 shared years of data; in 1961 it was Italy ahead.
Italy ranks 72nd and Portugal ranks 75th of 201 countries.
Across the 7 decades both report, Italy averaged higher in 6 and Portugal in 1.
Head to head by decade

About this data
The Cropland Nutrient balance domain contains information on the flows of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium from mineral fertilizer, manure applied, atmospheric deposition, crop removal, and biological fixation over cropland and per unit area of cropland. The flows are aggregated to total inputs and total outputs, from which the overall nutrient balance and nutrient use efficiency on cropland are calculated. Statistics are disseminated in units of tonnes and in kg/ha, as appropriate. Nutrient use efficiency is expressed as a fraction (%).
