Analysis
Ethiopia recorded 1.47 Mt CO2e for carbon dioxide (co2) emissions from building (energy) in 2024.
That represents a change of up 1.8% on the previous year and down 21.9% over ten years.
Over the whole period, carbon dioxide (co2) emissions from building (energy) in Ethiopia peaked at 1.89 Mt CO2e in 2014 and was at its lowest, 0.0844 Mt CO2e, in 1970.
That places Ethiopia 86th out of 193 countries with data for 2024, putting it in the middle of the range.
The series is highly variable year to year, so single readings are best treated with caution.

About this data
A measure of annual emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2), one of the six Kyoto greenhouse gases (GHG), from the building sector (subsector of the energy sector) including IPCC 2006 codes 1.A.4 Residential and other sectors, 1.A.5 Non-Specified. The measure is standardized to carbon dioxide equivalent values using the Global Warming Potential (GWP) factors of IPCC's 5th Assessment Report (AR5).
