Analysis
IDA total recorded 310.3 Mt CO2e for carbon dioxide (co2) emissions from power industry (energy) in 2024. That is the highest value across all 55 years on record.
Compared with earlier readings it is up 3.3% on the previous year and up 36.9% over ten years.
Over the whole period, carbon dioxide (co2) emissions from power industry (energy) in IDA total peaked at 310.3 Mt CO2e in 2024 and was at its lowest, 31.77 Mt CO2e, in 1971.
That places IDA total 32nd out of 45 groups with data for 2024, putting it in the middle of the range.
The series is highly variable year to year, so single readings are best treated with caution.

About this data
A measure of annual emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2), one of the six Kyoto greenhouse gases (GHG), from electricity and heat generation (subsector of the energy sector) including IPCC 2006 code 1.A.1.a. The measure is standardized to carbon dioxide equivalent values using the Global Warming Potential (GWP) factors of IPCC's 5th Assessment Report (AR5).
