Analysis
Bhutan recorded 1.59 Mt CO2e for carbon dioxide (co2) emissions (total) excluding lulucf in 2024.
That represents a change of up 2.0% on the previous year and up 41.0% over ten years.
Over the whole period, carbon dioxide (co2) emissions (total) excluding lulucf in Bhutan peaked at 1.81 Mt CO2e in 2019 and was at its lowest, 0.0351 Mt CO2e, in 1970.
That places Bhutan 154th out of 203 countries with data for 2024, putting it in the bottom quarter.
The series is highly variable year to year, so single readings are best treated with caution.

About this data
A measure of annual emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2), one of the six Kyoto greenhouse gases (GHG), from the agriculture, energy, waste, and industrial sectors, excluding LULUCF. The measure is standardized to carbon dioxide equivalent values using the Global Warming Potential (GWP) factors of IPCC's 5th Assessment Report (AR5).
