Analysis
The most recent figure for nitrous oxide (n2o) emissions from building (energy) in Macao is 0.0029 Mt CO2e, measured in 2024.
The figure is up 7.4% on the previous year and down 17.1% over ten years.
Over the whole period, nitrous oxide (n2o) emissions from building (energy) in Macao peaked at 0.0064 Mt CO2e in 1999 and was at its lowest, 0.0003 Mt CO2e, in 1977.
That places Macao 159th out of 197 countries with data for 2024, putting it in the bottom quarter.
The series is highly variable year to year, so single readings are best treated with caution.

About this data
A measure of annual emissions of nitrous oxide (N2O), one of the six Kyoto greenhouse gases (GHG), from the building sector (subsector of the energy sector) including IPCC 2006 codes 1.A.4 Residential and other sectors, 1.A.5 Non-Specified. The measure is standardized to carbon dioxide equivalent values using the Global Warming Potential (GWP) factors of IPCC's 5th Assessment Report (AR5).
