Analysis
In 2024, nitrous oxide (n2o) emissions from fugitive emissions (energy) in Chile stood at 0.0008 Mt CO2e. That is the lowest value across all 55 years on record.
Compared with earlier readings it is down 78.4% over ten years.
Over the whole period, nitrous oxide (n2o) emissions from fugitive emissions (energy) in Chile peaked at 0.0317 Mt CO2e in 1976 and was at its lowest, 0.0008 Mt CO2e, in 2022.
Chile ranks 129th of 187 countries on this measure, in the middle of the range.
The series is highly variable year to year, so single readings are best treated with caution.

About this data
A measure of annual emissions of nitrous oxide (N2O), one of the six Kyoto greenhouse gases (GHG), from fugitive emissions (subsector of the energy sector) including IPCC 2006 codes 1.A.1.bc Petroleum Refining - Manufacture of Solid Fuels and Other Energy Industries, 1.B.1 Solid Fuels, 1.B.2 Oil and Natural Gas, 5.B. The measure is standardized to carbon dioxide equivalent values using the Global Warming Potential (GWP) factors of IPCC's 5th Assessment Report (AR5).
